AAA/Penske Truck Rental Team News and Notes of Interest
• Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 AAA/Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger, was on course for a strong showing in just his third NASCAR Cup Series road course race last Sunday before an accident relegated the No. 77 team to a 38th-place finish at Infineon Raceway. Hornish now sits 26th in the 2009 driver point standings, 144 points outside of 20th place.
• Hornish has just two starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Last September, Hornish started from the 36th spot and was running just outside of the top-20 when the engine on No. 77 lost a cylinder. Hornish remained on track and finished the race in 30th place.

Sam Hornish Jr. on New Hampshire Motor Speedway
“New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a place where we seemed to struggle last season. In the fall, we were running on the lead lap when we lost a cylinder on the No. 77 Dodge and ended up finishing the race two laps down.

“I’ve always felt that New Hampshire and Richmond are similar to each other. With our recent top-10 run in Richmond, we are anxious to get back to New Hampshire and hopefully capture a similar finish this weekend. New Hampshire demands a lot from the race car and you definitely need a strong engine and good brakes to make the transitions from corner to straightaway quickly.”

Crew Chief Travis Geisler on New Hampshire Motor Speedway
“With top-10 finishes at the last two short track races, we are all looking forward to taking the AAA/Penske Truck Rental colors up to Loudon this weekend. Flat tracks pose a tough challenge for drivers and teams. In addition, Goodyear has a new right-side tire for this race that we have not run anywhere, which adds a little challenge to the weekend because we will need to learn how it will react to changes. Overall, this should be a good weekend for this No. 77 team and we are looking for a strong finish in New Hampshire.”
