Rain Washes Out Qualifying, Stremme to Start 32nd at NHMS

June 26, 2009

LOUDON, N.H. (June, 26, 2009) – Persistent rain in the Loudon, New Hampshire area caused NASACR to cancel qualifying on Friday afternoon.  With the cancellation of qualifying, the field was set by 2009 owner points per the NASCAR rule book. Currently 32nd in the standings, the No. 12 team will line up on the outside of the 16th row for Sunday’s race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The weather held off long enough for the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team to get in a 90-minute practice session in preparation for Sunday’s 301-lap event.  The team made significant gains to the car during the session and Stremme ended up 17th on the speed chart.

The No. 12 Penske Dodge will have two practice sessions tomorrow to dial their Dodge in for the 301-lap event at the “Magic Mile.”

“I hate that we are not going to get to qualify,” commented Stremme on Friday afternoon.  “We had a car capable of starting inside the top-ten.  We tested up here in April for Goodyear and I think it paid dividends today.  [Crew chief] Roy [McCauley] did a great job making the right adjustments during practice and we were looking forward to qualifying.  We have a really strong race car for Sunday’s event.  I can’t wait to get going.”

The Lenox Industrial Tools 301 will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 28 on the TNT television network. Race coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
