Rain cancels qualifying, Hornish to Start 26th in Loudon

LOUDON , N. H. (June 26, 2009) – Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 AAA/Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger, will start the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the 26th position on Sunday after Friday’s qualifying session was cancelled due to rain.
With the cancellation of qualifying, the field was set by 2009 owner points per the NASCAR rule book. Currently 26th in the standings, the No. 77 team will line up in the 26th starting position on Sunday.
“The AAA/Penske Truck Rental Dodge was really good in practice today,” said Hornish. “It’s unfortunate that qualifying was rained out because I feel we could’ve qualified much better than 26th place. The car was really good in race trim today and we still have two practice sessions tomorrow. Lately, we’ve been able to come from back in the field and finish strong. We hope to do the same on Sunday.”
