-Shell-Pennzoil Dodge Driver Comes Up Short In Bid For Four Consecutive Coors Light Poles-
SONOMA, Calif. (June 24, 2011) – Shell-Pennzoil Dodge driver Kurt Busch will start 11th in Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 here at Infineon Raceway after turning in a lap of 77.352 seconds (92.616 mph). Busch had turned in the fastest practice lap and was in quest of his fourth consecutive Coors Light Pole Award.
"We just missed it a little in Turn 4 and a little bit in Turn 7," said Busch of his official lap against the clock. "We were slow through Turn 10. Add all those mistakes up and that's what you get."
Joey Logano won the pole for Sunday's race with a fast lap of 76.821 seconds (93.256 mph). Jamie McMurray (lap of 76.848 seconds) earned the outside-front-row starting spot. Paul Menard, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Newman rounded out today's top-five qualifiers. Kasey Kahne, A.J. Allmendinger, Marcos Ambrose, Clint Bowyer and Brian Vickers completed the top 10.
"I'm proud of Kurt and everyone on this Shell-Pennzoil Dodge Team," said crew chief Steve Addington. "The poles are great, but race wins are even better. Maybe this week, we don't win the pole, but we get to go to Victory Lane here on Sunday."
Saturday's schedule here at Infineon Racewaycalls for practice from 9:30 a.m. till 10:15 a.m. (live on Speed-TV) and from 10:45 a.m. till 12 noon (live on Speed-TV). Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 (110 laps) on the 1.99-mile scenic road course is scheduled to get the green just after 12:00 noon PDT. The race will feature live coverage by TNT-TV and PRN Radio.
