· After recording the sixth best time in his group during Saturday’s qualifying session for Sunday’s second Dual race, Allmendinger will start 12th.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE FIRST LAP

“The Quicken Loans Chevrolet was in a tight pack on the start and as it got crowded in the turn I made contact with Scott (Dixon) and unfortunately couldn’t recover from there. It is obviously very frustrating because my guys had given me a great car and with this being Quicken Loans’ race I really wanted to put on a great performance for them.”– A.J. Allmendinger

HIS MINDSET AFTER THE RACE

“Luckily we have another opportunity tomorrow to get a great result and I am determined to give all that I have to get the Quicken Loans Chevrolet competing up at the front.” – A.J. Allmendinger

THE RACE REVIEW

No. 3 Hitachi Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet

IZOD IndyCar Series Championship Points Standing: 1st (182 Points)

· Started the race in the 13th position and was quickly in the top 10 by Lap 5.

· The two-time winner at Belle Isle remained in the top-10 for the rest of the race and spent most of the first half of the race in the fifth position.

· Castroneves pitted twice in the race, first on Lap 25 and again on Lap 53 when he was in a race-high third place.

· Despite a caution-filled race, Castroneves was able to keep his car clean and brought home a fifth-place finish.

· Castroneves has finished highest among all Team Penske drivers in each race of 2013.

· Castroneves will start ninth in Sunday’s second Dual in Detroit race.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“I just saw that I’m on top of the points, but I mean really (race winner) Mike Conway – great job. Jumping straight from the couch to the driver’s seat.  It just proves that the series is very competitive and how great the drivers are.  Now we’ve taken the points lead, which is very good and right where we want the Hitachi Chevrolet to be. What we had was great; I wish it could’ve been a little bit more, but we’ll take it.” – Helio Castroneves

ON HIS STRATEGY FOR SUNDAY

“Our strategy for tomorrow is just to keep it clean like we did today. It was a perfect call from everyone, from John Erickson. For now we just need to keep going. We have a good momentum and we want to get the podium, but in order to get on the podium we have to move the Hitachi Chevrolet past a lot of cars.” – Helio Castroneves

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

HOW HE FEELS AFTER THE RACE

“Man, that was a hard race, I drove the Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet at 100% every single lap. That was the hardest I’ve ever worked and not won a race, it really shows the competition level right now.” – Will Power

WHAT HE TAKES FROM TODAY’S RACE INTO TOMORROW

“We had great restarts today which we want to carry over to tomorrow and starting closer to the front should help us be in it at the end. I think the weather should be clear again which will make for great racing so hopefully we can capitalize.” – Will Power
