Scott Pye finishes sixth in Race 2 at Phillip Island SuperSprint.

PHILLIP ISLAND, VICTORIA, 21 November 2015: The Detroit Diesel Falcon FG X of Scott Pye has claimed 6th place in Race 2 today at Phillip Island. Pye had qualified well inside the Top 10 for both races, but it was the second 14 lap journey that delivered the best race result. After a wet and cold practice day, the weather conditions were far better as the penultimate round of the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship kicked off in earnest.
Race 1 of the WD 40 SuperSprint and Scott was away well but as 25 V8 Supercars charged down to Turn 1, Van Gisbergen, Pye and Rick Kelly were all off the road and scrambling across the grass to regain position. Scott re-joined in P12 but was under pressure from Todd Kelly and Coulthard. As the race settled, Pye had the Detroit Diesel Falcon running in 13th place but was caught in a long line of cars. Unable to make any further progress in the short 14 lap SuperSprint race format, Pye brought the DJR Team Penske Falcon home in P13.
Race 2 would see Scott start from P6. This time the start was much cleaner for the Detroit Ford and Pye held onto sixth position as the race settled down. He quickly latched onto the rear of David Reynolds Falcon with a similar gap behind him back to Caruso’s Nissan. There was very little movement from the Top 10 runners and the race finished much as it had started. Pye held onto a solid 6th position as the chequered flag flew.
The final of the WD 40 Phillip Island SuperSprint will be run over 200km on Sunday.

"In the first race we made a great start but there was a fair bit of dirt on the outside of Turn 1 and I ended up on the grass, dropping a bunch of spots. Once you are trying to defend your position, you are really on the back foot. I settled into the race in P13 and that is where we finished. There was not much more we could do in the remaining laps.
"For Race 2 we improved the car as we did between the two Qualifying sessions. Once again we got a good start and filed in behind Reynolds. The race was a bit of a stalemate. It was difficult to overtake and when you get too close to the car in front you, the aero wash in the dirty air really affects the car’s balance.
"We finished up P6 which is a solid result after a disappointing Race 1. I am looking forward to tomorrow. We need to make some changes to get the Detroit Falcon handling a little bit sweeter and if we can qualify well I am sure we will have a good race.”
