September 18, 2009

TOOELE, Utah (September 18, 2009) – Timo Bernhard will start the Penske Racing No. 12 Verizon Wireless Porsche Riley from the second position in Saturday’s Utah 250 at Miller Motorsports Park.

Bernhard drove a fast lap time of 2:36.56 (103.152 mph) on the 4.486-mile, 24-turn road course located just outside of Salt Lake City.

Having narrowly missed the pole position by just 0.823 seconds, Bernhard and Penske Racing co-driver Romain Dumas maintain a positive outlook and hope to secure their first victory of the 2009 Rolex Grand Am Sports Car Series Presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 season.

“The [Verizon Wireless Porsche Riley] was good for us all day and qualifying was no different,” said Bernhard. “In the end, it is about the race. I think we are where we want to be. The race pace will be closer to our time, so they will not run away from us.”

Saturday’s Utah 250 race broadcast will air live on SPEED at 5:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. PT).
