Biography
Over the course of a 20-year career competing in North America’s premier open-wheel series, Will Power has undoubtedly secured a spot as one of the greatest drivers in the rich history of INDYCAR racing. A two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion in 2014 and 2022 and the winner of the 2018 Indianapolis 500, Power has shown no signs of slowing down as he competes in his 17th season for Team Penske in 2025, driving the No. 12 Verizon Business Chevrolet.
The Australian racer produced three victories in 2024 to advance to fourth place on INDYCAR’s all-time wins list with 44. When it comes to qualifying, however, Power stands alone atop the INDYCAR mountain. With a remarkable total of 70 NTT P1 Pole Awards to his credit entering the 2025 season, Power has distinguished himself as the greatest qualifier in series history and he is poised to add to his record total this season.
A second-place finish at St. Petersburg to start the 2024 season, after his two Team Penske teammates saw their podium results vacated due to penalties from a software coding mistake in the “push to pass” system, began a remarkably consistent run for Power to start the season. Power finished outside of the top seven just once through the first eight rounds of racing last season. He led a Team Penske podium sweep at Road America in June with a victory that vaulted him to the series points lead. Unfortunately, his first career win at Iowa Speedway in July and his second career victory at Portland International Raceway in August were accompanied by atypical results for Power during the rest of the mid-summer schedule. Finishes of second and 10th during the Milwaukee Mile doubleheader weekend provided Power an opportunity to race for a third career series title at Nashville Superspeedway to close the season. An untimely pit stop to secure loose harness belts in the season finale ultimately resulted in Power finishing 24th on the day and fourth in the final series standings. It marked the 13th time in the last 15 seasons that Power finished among the top five drivers in championship points.

Power joined Team Penske on a part-time basis in 2009, winning from the pole position at Edmonton, Alberta to help secure a full-time ride with the team beginning in 2010 in the No. 12 Verizon entry. All but one of his 41 career victories with Team Penske have come in a Verizon livery, one of the longest and most-recognizable partnership pairings in motorsports history. In addition to his numerous career accomplishments, Power also enters the 2025 season ranked fourth on INDYCAR’s all-time list with 105 podium finishes and he begins the year just one second-place finish behind Michael Andretti for fifth place in all-time runner-up results, further magnifying his consistency during a hyper-competitive era of INDYCAR racing.
Power and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Charlotte, North Carolina with their young son Beau. Power is an avid fitness enthusiast and amateur drummer. The native of Toowoomba, Australia became a proud American citizen after going through the naturalization process in January of 2019 while maintaining his Australian birth citizenship.
