May 2, 2008
Richmond, Va. (May 2, 2008) - Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, qualified in the 35th starting position for the Crown Royal presents the Dan Lowry 400 on Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway.
After a strong showing in Friday's practice session, Hornish Jr. was the sixth competitor to hit the banks of the track for qualifying on Friday evening. He posted a fast lap time of 21.750 seconds at a speed of 124.138 miles per hour placing the Mobil 1 Dodge in the 35th starting position.
"We managed to pick up some on our second lap," said Hornish Jr. "It's not where we want to be but I believe we are doing well as a team. We just need to be smart tomorrow night and keep the fenders on the racecar and we should have a good race. Richmond has always been a favorite track of mine, and I've had success here in the IndyCar Series. I'm looking forward to my first race at Richmond in a Cup car."
The Crown Royal presents the Dan Lowry 400 will air live on FOX on Saturday, May 3, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on MRN beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
