Hornish Qualifies 35th for Sharpie 500 at Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 22, 2008) – Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will line up to start the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway in the 35th position tomorrow night.
In qualifying on Friday afternoon, Hornish posted a fast lap time of 16.086 seconds at a speed of 119.284 miles per hour. The effort secured the Mobil 1 team the 35th starting position at the famed .533-mile oval when the Sprint Cup Series races under the lights on Saturday night.
“We had hoped to run a little faster than we did in practice,” said Hornish. “The Mobil 1 Dodge was a little too loose-handing getting into the corners. We’re just going to keep our heads up and continue to work at it. I’m looking forward to final practice this evening where we will really focus on race trim for tomorrow night.”
Coverage of the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway will air live on the ESPN television network on Saturday, August 23 beginning at 7 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on PRN at 8 p.m. EDT.
