• Ryan Newman, driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, has one win, three top-five and three top-10 finishes in seven NASCAR Cup Series starts at Kansas Speedway.
   
• Newman's only win at Kansas Speedway came in 2003. In that race, Newman started 11th, led 28 laps and went on to win the 267-lap event.
   
• Newman also has two runner-up finishes at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval. The runner-up finishes came in 2001 (when Newman was running a partial schedule for Penske Racing) and in 2002 (Newman's rookie-of-the-year season).
   
• Newman is currently 16th in the NASCAR Cup Series driver points. He is 230 points out of 13th place. At Kansas, Newman has an average starting spot of 15.1 and average finishing spot of 18.3.
   
• With football season in full swing, four members of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge over-the-wall team pay special attention to the weekend scores. Bryan White (jackman) was a linebacker at the University of Virginia; Britt Goodrich (catch can) was a linebacker for N.C. State University; Trent Cherry (rear tire carrier) was a quarterback at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C.; and Ben Brown (front tire changer) was a receiver and cornerback at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C.

RYAN NEWMAN QUOTES ON:
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: "This is definitely a track where I can say that I have some unfinished business. For a long time, this team was criticized for being only a   qualifying team, but this is one track where I don't have a pole. I came close one time when we started third (2003). And then there was last year. We actually  qualified second-but our time was disallowed following post-qualifying inspection. NASCAR said that our roof was too low and rear quarter-panel was too high, so we had to start 42nd. I would like to go there this weekend and make up for last year and get the pole that I haven't gotten there yet. With eight races left at Penske Racing, I feel like I have unfinished   business with this team. I really want to get another pole and another win with this No. 12 Alltel Dodge before the year is over. That's a goal of mine and that's been a team goal all along. And with a little luck, we have a good shot at getting to 13th in points, too."

RACING AT KANSAS: "Kansas is really a fast race track, and I have enjoyed racing there. It's your typical D-shaped oval. You really have to arc the car going into the corners. Getting into turn one can be pretty tricky, and when you come off turn two the track really opens up and it is easy to get loose. The car really carries a lot of speed off the corners. It gets to be a lot of fun when the race comes around and the track gets wider because you're able to race a little harder. We have always had pretty good cars at Kansas, so I am looking forward to going there this weekend."

ROY MCCAULEY QUOTES ON:
RACING AT KANSAS: "Kansas is a tough because the track can go through so many changes during the race weekend and the race itself. It is critical that the car not get too tight because passing is difficult, which makes track position there more important than at other tracks. Just like so many other tracks, having the car is clean air is crucial. Kansas is very similar to Chicago in that respect, but it   probably has another half or full groove to race in. We had a good run in Chicago with a top-15 car for most of the day, and we ended up getting a 10th-place finish. We're taking the same car to Kansas. We hope we learned some things from that race to improve on our setup and handling and have a solid top-10 car all day."

CHASSIS NOTES
PRS-577: The No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger this weekend is the same car that served as Newman's primary car at Chicagoland Speedway's inaugural night race in July. After starting 17th, Newman finished 10th at the 1.5-mile oval.

PRS-558: The backup No. 12 Alltel Dodge is the same car that Newman drove to a fourth-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year. It was also the primary car at Michigan in June.
