David Stremme on driving at Phoenix International Raceway
“Phoenix is a really cool track. The two sets of corners are completely different. Turns 1 and 2 are wide and you can get back to the gas early and let the car float out to the wall. Turns 3 and 4 are very tight. You have to get the car pointed and it really has to rotate through the center. We are taking a new car this week that I am really excited about driving. (Crew chief) Roy [McCauley] has been working really hard on our short track package and I am confident we will have a good showing on Saturday night.
“We had a really solid performance in Texas a couple of weeks ago. This sport is all about momentum and we have a little going right now. We just need to keep it going through this next stretch of races. We are going to a bunch of tracks I really like and we need to take advantage of them.”
Crew chief Roy McCauley on racing at Phoenix International Raceway
“Phoenix is a tough track. As a crew chief, you have to set up the car for two separate corners. If you can get your car to really run through turns 3 and 4, you will have a solid car. David [Stremme] really likes Phoenix which is a great start. We know going in we have a good car and a great driver. We just need a bit of luck to get the finish we deserve.”
