David Stremme Will Start Saturday’s Race From the Top-20

April 17, 2009

AVONDALE, ARIZ. (April, 17, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Saturday’s short track event at the Phoenix International Raceway in the 19th spot.

In Friday afternoon’s qualifying session, Stremme was the 26th car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  He wheeled his red and black Dodge Charger around the flat one-mile track running a time of 27.106 seconds which put him on the inside of the 10th row for the start of the Saturday night showdown in the desert.  This is Stremme’s fifth NASCAR Cup Series start the one-mile oval.

“I am happy with that effort,” commented driver David Stremme.  “We are making gains with our qualifying efforts.  I think we have a great car in race trim.  We made a couple of small changes to the car during the first practice that I think will really help tomorrow night.  [Crew chief] Roy [McCauley] and all the guys on the No.12 Penske Dodge did a great job all day making the right calls.  We just need to keep our Dodge out of trouble and I am confident we will have a solid day.”

The Subway Fresh Fit 500 can be seen live on Saturday, April 18th on the FOX television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 8 pm EDT. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
