April 21, 2009

No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger News and Notes
• This Week’s Charger… The No. 12 Penske Dodge team and driver David Stremme will use chassis PRS-586 during Sunday’s 499-mile NASCAR Cup Series restrictor plate event. PRS-586 is a brand new car to the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team.
• Come and See Me… Stremme will be signing autographs at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer on Sunday, April 26 at 9:30 pm CST. The Penske Racing trailer is located behind the frontstretch at Talladega Superspeedway.
• Last Time Around… Last spring, Stremme made his first-ever superspeedway start at Talladega behind the wheel of a COT. The South Bend, Indiana native subbed for the injured Dario Franchitti in the No. 40 Dodge Charger.  Stremme started 43rd, but maneuvered his way into the top-10 before being caught up in a late-race accident which relegated him to his 28th-place finishing position
• Moving on up... After a solid finish of 18th at Phoenix International Raceway last weekend, Stremme moved up two spots in the NASCAR Cup Series driver point standings. The 31-year-old Stremme now is 20th, only 117 points out of the top-12.
• Penske Power... Last weekend in Phoenix, all three Penske Racing entries finished in the top-20. Stremme was 18th while Sam Hornish Jr. captured his first top-10 finish bringing his Dodge home in the ninth spot and Kurt Busch had a strong day finishing in third place.  This marked the second consecutive race that all three Penske Racing machines finished inside the top-20
• Watch and Listen… The Aaron’s 499 can be seen live on Sunday, April 26 on the FOX television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 1 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.

David Stremme on driving at Talladega Superspeedway
“Talladega is a great track. I love going there. It is a place where you can run three- and four-wide all day. The guys on the No.12 car have really made a lot of gains on our superspeedway program and I am looking forward to this weekend. You have to be patient at these types of tracks. You do not want to put yourself in a position where you might get taken out. Early in the race, I am going take care of my car and not try and take many chances. The final segment is when you have to take chances and get your car to the front.”

Crew chief Roy McCauley on racing at Talladega Superspeedway
“Talladega is a place where having teammates really gives you an advantage. We have two great teammates in Kurt [Busch] and Sam [Hornish Jr.]. Our plan is for the three of us to push each other to the front of the field. We know we have to avoid the ‘big one’ and keep our nose clean all day. David [Stremme] really impressed me in Daytona. He has a great sense of the draft and where he needs to be on the track. We just know we have to take care of our equipment and make it to the last lap and then race for the win. Last year, we had our first Penske Racing one-two finish at Daytona. I am hoping for another one at Talladega this weekend.”
