Stremme To Start 41st in Talladega

April 25, 2009

TALLADEGA, Ala. (April, 25, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Sunday’s restrictor-plate event at Talladega Superspeedway from the 41st spot.

In Saturday morning’s qualifying session, Stremme was the 35th car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  On his second timed lap, the engine in the No.12 Penske Dodge expired putting Stremme near the rear of the 43-car field for the start of Sunday’s race at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway.

“The engine shop does a great job every week,” commented Stremme after his qualifying effort.  “We push the limits trying to get the most horsepower we can out of our Penske Dodge.  Sometimes you have failures.  I am just glad it was today, and not tomorrow.

“I am looking forward to the race.  We have a really good racecar for the race.  Last year, I started 43rd and took my Dodge all the way to the front.  You can go from 43rd to first in one lap, so I am not worried.  [Crew chief] Roy McCauley has brought a great car here this weekend and I am looking forward to getting our Dodge Charger up front tomorrow afternoon.”

The Aaron’s 499 can be seen live on Sunday, April 26 on the FOX television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 1 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
