Stremme Earns Best Starting Spot of the Season at Richmond

May 1, 2009

RICHMOND, VA. (May 1, 2009) – Driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge, David Stremme, will start tomorrow’s scheduled 400-lap event at the famed Richmond International Raceway from the 11th position.

Stremme drew the sixth position to make his two-lap qualifying run.  He rolled out on the .75-mile short track running a time of 21.441 seconds.  The time was good enough to line him up on the inside of the sixth row for the start of tomorrow night’s event.  Today’s qualifying effort matches Stremme’s best start at Richmond International Speedway.

“The guys on the No.12 team did a great job,” said Stremme after his qualifying effort.  “We struggled a bit in practice and I scraped the wall, but we knew we had a good car.  This is my first time here in the new car and I just needed to get some seat time.  The braking points are different, and you have to really roll the center will a lot of speed.  [Crew chief] Roy McCauley and all the guys on the No.12 Star Trek Dodge team made some awesome changes after the ‘happy hour’ practice that made this car come to life.  We have a solid starting spot and I think we have a car that will run well tomorrow night.”

The Crown Royal Presents the Russ Friedman 400 can be seen live on Saturday, May 2nd on the FOX television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 7 pm EDT. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
