Hornish to Start 12th at Dover International Speedway

May 29, 2009

DOVER, Del. (May 29, 2009) - Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will line up in the 12th starting position for the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover International Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

During qualifying, Hornish posted a fast lap time of 23.160 seconds at a speed of 155.440 miles per hour placing the No. 77 team in the 12th starting position.

“Our Mobil 1 Dodge was pretty good, just a little bit on the tight side,” said Hornish. “We kind of bounced the car into the track which took some time off of our lap. It’s something that we didn’t see during practice earlier in the day, so we’re not really sure why it happened. We’ll take the lap. We thought that we had a better car in race trim than in qualifying trim anyhow. We’ll just keep wrenching on it tomorrow in practice.”

Coverage of the Autism Speaks 400 will air live on the FOX television network on Sunday, May 31 beginning at 1:30 p.m. p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on MRN at 1:15 p.m. EDT.
