Mobil 1 Team News and Notes of Interest
• Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, earned a 32nd-place finish last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. After starting 25th, Hornish ran consistently fast lap times and maintained his position in and around the top-10 until a blown right-rear tire dropped the No. 77 several laps down to the leaders.
• Prior to the LifeLock.com 400, Penske Racing drivers Hornish, Kurt Busch and David Stremme will participate in the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy NASCAR Challenge beginning at 12 p.m. CT on Friday, July 10 at Soldier Field in downtown Chicago. The Penske drivers - along with media celebrities such as Dan Patrick and Chicago Bear Hall of Famer Dan Hampton - will drive fuel-efficient Mobil 1-branded Smart cars on a miniature road course in an event designed to show ExxonMobil’s continued support for the Alliance to Save Energy and its Drive $marter Challenge, which has the goal of increasing fuel efficiency nationwide.
• Hornish will run a special paint scheme at Chicagoland Speedway. The Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Dodge will debut this weekend in an effort to help make consumers aware of the best ways to conserve fuel during the busy summer driving season.

Sam Hornish Jr. on Chicagoland Speedway
“Chicagoland Speedway has always been a great place for me to go either because I celebrated an IndyCar Series win or clinched a championship there. Our intermediate track program has been one of our strong suits and we are ready to get back to 1.5-mile tracks.

Chicagoland Speedway has progressively become a multi-groove track, which provides for much better racing. The track is fast, and with the banking, it carries a lot of speed. It reminds me a lot of Lowe’s Motor Speedway which is one of my favorite tracks. I am looking forward to a strong run in the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Dodge this weekend.

Crew Chief Travis Geisler on Chicagoland Speedway
“The Mobil 1 team and I are looking forward to getting back to racing at 1.5-mile venues with this weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway. I think the racing action at Chicago gets better each trip back as the track gets weathered and gains more character. The racing groove keeps getting wider and with double-file restarts, I think the fans are in for a good race.”
