Stremme Will Start 36th On Saturday Night in Chicago

July 9, 2009

JOLIET Ill. (July, 9, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Saturday night’s 400-mile event at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway from the 36th position.

In Thursday night’s qualifying session, Stremme was the sixth car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  The 32 year old Indiana native ran a time of 30.151 seconds which was good enough to put him 36th for the start of Saturday’s speedway event.  Saturday night will be David Stremme’s third start outside the “Windy City.”  Stremme made his first ever NASCAR Cup Series start in 2005 at the Chicagoland Speedway

“The car was loose in the middle of the corner at both ends of the track,” commented Stremme after his qualifying effort.  “I could not stomp on the gas which hurt our speed coming off the corners.  We have a really good car in race trim.  Roy [McCauley] and all the guys on the Penske Dodge Charger team did a great job getting our car prepared for this weekend’s race.  We just need a solid run on Saturday night to gain some momentum moving into the second half of the season.”

The Lifelock.com 400 can be seen live on Saturday, July 11 on TNT beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
