PPG Team News and Notes of Interest
• Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Dodge Charger, was in the midst of an impressive run last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway before a single-car incident sent the team to the garage for repairs. After racing inside the top-15 all afternoon, Hornish took the checkered flag in 37th place.
• In June, Hornish and the No. 77 team earned a 10th-place finish at Pocono Raceway after starting from the 26th spot. The team has shown solid gains on tracks with flat surfaces, with top results this season at Phoenix International Raceway in April (finished ninth) and New Hampshire Motor Speedway in June (finished eighth).

Sam Hornish Jr. on Pocono Raceway
“We had a strong run at Pocono Raceway in June and were poised for our first top-five finish before it rained. This No. 77 team has shown a lot if strength at flat tracks this year with top-10 finishes at Phoenix and New Hampshire as well as here at Pocono and we are ready to build on that success. Our special paint scheme this weekend commemorates the 25th anniversary of our relationship with PPG. I remember as a kid thinking that not only did Roger (Penske) have some of the fastest cars on track, but some of the best looking cars as well.”

Crew Chief Travis Geisler on Pocono Raceway
“The team and I are excited about heading back to Pocono Raceway after a top-10 finish there in the first race of the season. We feel that our cars have been good at the flat tracks this year and we have been working hard on making our setup better for the ‘Tricky Triangle.’ The car will be easy to spot this weekend with the bright red and yellow paint scheme to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Penske Racing’s partnership with PPG.”
