Rain Cancels Qualifying: Stremme To Start 32nd at Pocono

July 31, 2009

POCONO, PA. (July 31, 2009) –David Stremme, driver of the No.12  Penske Dodge Charger, will line up for the start of the Sonoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Speedway in the 32nd position on Sunday  afternoon after Friday’s qualifying session was cancelled due to rain.

With the cancellation of qualifying, the field was set by 2009 owner points per the NASCAR rule book. Currently 32nd in the standings, the No. 12 team will line up in the 32nd starting position on Sunday.

“We have a good car,” commented Stremme on Friday afternoon.  “We got a little bit of practice in today before the rain rolled in and our car was fast.  [Crew chief] Roy [McCauley] made some small changes to the car that really helped it rotate in the corners.  I am looking forward to Sunday’s race.  I hate we aren’t going to get to qualify, but I think we have a strong car and we will be able to make our way forward.”

Sonoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 will be seen live on Sunday, August 2 on the ESPN.   Race coverage will begin at 1:00 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
