Stremme To Start 34th Tomorrow Night In Bristol

August 21, 2009

Bristol, Tenn. (August, 21, 2009) – David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will start Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway from the 34th position.

Stremme and the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team had two practices sessions on Friday afternoon to get their car dialed in for the 500-lap event tomorrow night.  Stremme fought a tight race car for the most of the practice session.  The team worked with the front end settings trying to find a combination which was not only fast, but comfortable for Stremme to drive.  The team made gains with every run and by the end of the session the team had nailed down the 26th spot on the speed chart.

In Friday afternoon’s qualifying session, Stremme was the 20th car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt.  The red and black No.12 Penske Dodge ran a time of 15.688 seconds which put him on the outside of the 17th row for the start of Saturday night’s event at The World’s Fastest Half Mile.  In 2008, Stremme posted one top-five and two top-ten finishes in Thunder Valley.

“We were a bit off in qualifying,” commented David Stremme after his qualifying effort.  “We struggled a bit today in qualifying trim, but feel like we have a good car for the race.  It is a long race, 500-laps, so I know we have time to get to the front.  We just have to keep our nose clean and I am confident we can come out of here with a top-20.”

The Sharpie 500 will be seen live on Saturday, August 22 on the ESPN. Race coverage will begin at 6:30 pm EST. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
