Hornish to Start 24th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. (September 18, 2009) - Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will line up in the 24th starting position for the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The 22nd competitor to make a qualifying attempt, Hornish posted a fast-lap time of 29.073 seconds at a speed of 131.008 miles per hour. The effort secured the 24th starting position for the No. 77 team.
"Our Mobil 1 Dodge was sliding around too much on the track,” said Hornish. “We need to get the rear of the car to work better, especially on cold tires. It’s a little frustrating because it's not the starting position we were looking for. We'll have to start further back in the field and we won’t have the best pit box which always makes it tough on a one-mile track."
Coverage of the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will air live on the ABC television network on Sunday, September 18 beginning at 1 p.m. EDT and will also be broadcast live on PRN Radio.
