Hornish to Start Ninth at Dover International Speedway

September 25, 2009

DOVER, Del. (September 25, 2009) - Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will start the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway from the ninth starting position on Sunday afternoon.

The 16th competitor to make a qualifying attempt, Hornish posted a fast-lap time of 23.152 seconds at a speed of 155.494 miles per hour. The effort secured the ninth starting position for the No. 77 team.

"Our Mobil 1 Dodge was pretty good today,” said Hornish. “Not only was it good today, but our equipment has been good here overall this year. We have a new tire for this race and we spent most of practice today trying to get used to it. In adjusting the race car to handle better on entry, we had to compromise and were a little tight in the center of the corners. This race is all about compromise and we will work to fine tune the Mobil 1 Dodge in practice tomorrow.”

Coverage of the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway will air live on the ABC television network on Sunday, September 27 beginning at 1 p.m. EDT and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio at 1:15 p.m. EDT.
