October 9, 2009

Fontana, Calif. (October 9, 2009) - David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will line up in the 15th starting position for Sunday's 500-mile event at the Auto Club Speedway.

In Friday's qualifying session, the 32-year old South Bend Ind. native was the 25th car to make a qualifying lap. He ran a time of 39.703 seconds which put him on the inside of the 8th row for the start of the Pepsi 500. Earlier this season, Stremme started in the 38th spot at the 2-mile Auto Club Speedway, but was able to capitalize on a strong race car and crossed the finish line in the 13th position.

"We started 38th here [in Fontana] in February, so I'm happy with our starting position for the race this weekend," commented David Stremme following his qualifying attempt Friday afternoon. "We made up a lot of positions in the Spring, and we'll try to do the same thing this weekend."

Coverage of the Pepsi 500 is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. ET live on the ABC television network. It will also be broadcast live on MRN as well as Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 128.
