David Stremme on driving at Martinsville Speedway
“Martinsville is a place where you beat and bang all day. As a driver, you have to be defensive all day. You have to be patient and wait for your competitors to make a mistake and take advantage of it.

“As a whole, all three Penske Racing teams have picked up their short-track programs this season. Both Sam [Hornish, Jr.] and Kurt [Busch] have helped me at these kinds of tracks. I feel like all the testing we have done at places like Rockingham has really paid off. I am optimistic about our chances for a strong run this weekend. I know that this is [crew chief] Roy’s [McCauley] favorite track, which gives me a little more motivation to do well.”

Crew Chief Roy McCauley on racing at Martinsville Speedway
“Martinsville is one of my favorite places. It is full of history, being one of NASCAR’s oldest tracks, and it would really mean a lot for us to get a victory there.

“The keys to success at Martinsville are to preserve your brakes. It is a place where brakes are so important and you need them to last for 500 laps. We learned some things last week in Rockingham that will translate to the race this weekend. David [Stremme] ran a number of laps and was very comfortable with the chassis. We know we have a big task this weekend, but I feel we are all up for the challenge.”
