Keselowski Will Start Sunday’s Race from the 27th Position
November 20, 2009
Keselowski and the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team had an hour-and-a-half practice session on Friday morning to get their car dialed in. The team was confident they had a strong car and it showed on the speed chart. Keselowski radioed to crew chief Roy McCauley explaining the car was handling just a tick free at both ends of the speedway. The No. 12 Penske Dodge crew went to work making a couple of small adjustments to the white and red Dodge hoping to dial it in for the afternoon qualifying session.
In the afternoon qualifying session, Keselowski was the fifth car to roll off to make a qualifying attempt at the south Florida speedway. He wheeled the No. 12 Penske Dodge around the Homestead-Miami Speedway running a time of 31.613 seconds which put him on the inside of the 14th row for the start of Sunday's 400-mile season finale showdown.
"Wow, that was a super loose lap," said Keselowski after his qualifying lap. "We were a just a little bit free at the end of practice so [crew chief] Roy [McCauley] made a couple of adjustments to the Penske Dodge before we went out to qualify. They helped, but I could have used more. Going out early in the session did not help us either. Once the sun started to set, the track picked up a lot of grip. We have a really good car and I am excited about Sunday's race."
The Ford 400 will be seen live on Sunday, November 22nd on the ABC television network. Race coverage is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
