Kurt Busch Scores Pole Position at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (February 26, 2010) – Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, scored his first pole position at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Thursday afternoon. Busch, who hails from Las Vegas, posted a fast lap time of 28.614 seconds at a speed of 188.719 miles per hour setting a new track qualifying record in front of his hometown crowd.
Drivers Sam Hornish and Brad Keselowski qualified in 14th and 16th place, respectively. Hornish and Keselowski also posted speeds faster than the previous track record set by Kyle Busch in 2009.
“Wow, what an amazing lap!” said Busch. “We knew that our Miller Lite Dodge was fast, but the track cooled off and that tightened up the track. That made our lap even faster. Steve Addington made some great adjustments from practice. I'm just so excited. To qualify that well here in Las Vegas is incredible.
"We used a combination of what I was familiar with and what Steve liked. Right now, that’s our plan of attack each week. I hope it’s a one-two punch for making good adjustments. Sometimes, we’re not going to hit it just right, but we’ll take it right now. Our effort today feels really good here in my hometown of Las Vegas.”
