Busch Qualifies Second at Bristol Motor Speedway

March 19, 2010

BRISTOL, Tenn. (March 19, 2010) – Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, led the Penske Racing trio of Cup Series drivers with a second-place qualifying effort for the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Drivers Sam Hornish, Jr. and Brad Keselowski qualified in 22th and 36th place, respectively.

Busch was the 25th qualifier to make an attempt at the .533-mile oval and posted a fast-lap time of 15.492 seconds at a speed of 123.857 miles per hour in the “Blue Duece.”

“Overall, we exceeded our expectations today,” said Busch. “I didn’t think that we’d be sitting on the front row after our qualifying run but, hey, here we are. It shows that things are just going our way right now. Overall, we struggled today to find the right adjustments. We improvised a little bit. I’m pleasantly surprised that we ran the lap time that we did.

"It was an exciting lap. I wasn't sure we were going to run that good because the car was a little loose. I think I may have scrubbed some speed coming off if Turn 4. Otherwise, we may have grabbed a pole. I'm really happy with the Miller Lite Dodge. We know we have a couple things to tweak on tomorrow in practice, but overall a great qualifying lap for us.”

The Food City 500 will air live on Sunday, March 21 on the FOX television network beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on PRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
