Rain Cancels Cup Qualifying at Martinsville

March 26, 2010

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (March 26, 2010) – Friday afternoon’s qualifying session for the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at the Martinsville Speedway was canceled due to persistent rain showers.  The field will be lined up based on 2010 NASCAR owner points, per the NASCAR rulebook.

Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, will start the race from the sixth-place position as he looks to continue his strong start to the season. Drivers Brad Keselowski and Sam Hornish, Jr., finished in 30th and 33rd places, respectively.

“Martinsville is always a tough track to get around,” said Busch. “You hope that you find some of the off-season notes and scratch through things to help you get a little better each time you come back.  It’s one of the challenging tracks on the circuit for me, trying to get the car to turn and also get that good drive off the corner.  With practice, the way it shook out, everything actually felt a little better than normal. I was looking forward to qualifying, but we’ll take sixth.”

The Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 will air live on Sunday, March 28 on the FOX television network beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
