Hornish to Start 10th at Dover International Speedway

May 14, 2010

DOVER, Del. (May 14, 2010) – Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, led the Penske Racing trio of Cup Series drivers with a 10th-place qualifying effort for the Autism Speaks 400 presented by HERSHEY®’S Milk & Milkshakes at Dover International Speedway on Sunday. Drivers Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski qualified in 12th  and 20th place, respectively.

Hornish posted a fast-lap time of 22.989 seconds at a speed of 156.597 miles per hour during qualifying at the high-banked, one-mile oval known as the “Monster Mile.” The effort secured the fourth top-10 starting position of the season for the No. 77 Dodge.

“That lap wasn’t exactly what we thought we were going run, but the track tightened up more than we thought and there was quite a bit of push coming off Turn 4,” said Hornish. “That made the back end snap out a little bit. I’m happy with the team’s hard work today. We felt our car was really good in our race runs in practice. We look forward to tomorrow, getting some good practice time out there and learning a couple of things. I always like coming to Dover because it’s a fun race track. It feels like a roller coaster getting down in the corners. It’s a good place to come to after Darlington last week. Both of the tracks feel really fast and kind of get you amped up for the All-Star Race next weekend.”

The Autism Speaks 400 will air live on Sunday, May  on the FOX television network beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
