Busch Scores a Fourth-Place Start at Pocono

June 4, 2010

LONG POND, Pa. (June 4, 2010) – Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, led the Penske Racing trio of Cup Series drivers with a fourth-place qualifying effort for the Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 at Pocono Raceway. Penske Racing teammates Brad Keselowski and Sam Hornish Jr. will start 11th and 19th, respectively.

After sweeping both the All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Busch was the 27th qualifier to make an attempt at the 2.5-mile tri-oval. He posted a fast-lap time of 53.266 seconds at a speed of 168.963 miles per hour in the “Blue Deuce.”

“I felt like I lost a little bit in Turn 1,” said Busch. “I got in there nice, got to the gas early, but couldn’t plant it full throttle because the car was a little loose. We’ll take it.  We’re running well right now. The package we have right now gives me good confidence in the car and Steve Addington and my guys are doing a great job.

“In practice today, we made a good long run in race trim. I was running the low groove in Turn 3, but I still think the high groove is the way to go. We have to make sure the car is versatile. That way, we can go high or low.”

The Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 will air live on Sunday, June 6 on the TNT television network beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
