Busch to Start Fifth at Watkins Glen International
August 7, 2010
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 7, 2010) – Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, led the Penske Racing trio of Cup Series drivers with a fifth-place qualifying effort for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen at Watkins Glen International on Sunday.
Busch was the 28th qualifier to make an attempt at the 2.45-mile road course. He posted a fast-lap time of 71.403 seconds at a speed of 123.524 miles per hour in the “Blue Deuce.”
“We’ve been in the top five through both practice sessions and maintained that in today’s qualifying session,” said Busch. “We were just a little bit on the loose side most of the weekend. We’re trying to stabilize the rear of the car so that I can yank on the wheel turning down in and not have the rear slide out underneath us. Overall, it was a decent lap for us. It’s right where I thought we could be. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, so we definitely need to keep track of that looseness with the rear end.”
Penske Racing teammates Sam Hornish Jr. and Brad Keselowski qualified 12th and 32nd, respectively.
The Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen will air live on Sunday, August 8 on the ESPN television network beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio.
