Busch Qualifies Second at Phoenix International Raceway
February 26, 2011
AVONDALE, Ariz. (February 26, 2011) – Kurt Busch and the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger team led the Penske Racing NASCAR Cup Series qualifying effort for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Saturday afternoon.
Busch recorded the second-fastest lap during the qualifying session as he toured the one-mile oval in 26.256 seconds, or 137.112 miles per hour. Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski will start ninth in the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge.
"We're happy with our run," said Busch. "Our Shell/Pennzoil Dodge was pretty stout. I just gave up a few thousandths of a second. Carl (Edwards) ran a great lap. This is a track position race and to start up front is a nice hurdle to get over."
"It was a really good run for the Miller Lite team," stated Keselowski. "Our Dodge Charger is fast. We just kept working on this car and it paid off today. It was a great pick up from where we were yesterday (five-tenths faster)."
The Subway Fresh Fit 500 will air live at 1:00 p.m. ET on the FOX network on Sunday, February 27th. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio.
