Penske Drivers Each Qualify in Top-10 at Martinsville
April 6, 2013
MARTINSVILLE, Virginia (April 5, 2013) – Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion qualified fourth for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series “STP Gas Booster 500” at Martinsville Speedway. It matches Logano’s best-career qualifying effort at the half-mile “paperclip” shaped oval. He also qualified fourth in the spring of 2010.
Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford, qualified in the top-10 as well and will start seventh on Sunday. Logano ran a time of 19.269 seconds (98.272 mph) while Keselowski toured the half-mile track with a time of 19.307 seconds (98.078 mph).
“Todd Gordon and the entire Shell-Pennzoil crew gave me a great car,” said Logano after his qualifying effort. “They made some big changes from practice and the car was a lot better. I didn’t think we would hold on to a top-five effort, but the time was there. I’m looking forward to working on race runs tomorrow and taking advantage of a good starting spot.”
The STP Gas Booster 500 will air live at 1:00 p.m. ET on the FOX network on Sunday afternoon. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
