April 19, 2013
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (April 19, 2013) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 SKF Ford Fusion team qualified in the fourth position for Sunday’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway.
Hornish guided his Penske Ford around the 1.5-mile speedway in 28.213 seconds at 191.401 miles per hour during Friday afternoon’s qualifying session.
“We are pretty happy with our qualifying effort today in the SKF Ford Fusion,” said Hornish. “We had to qualify for this race on speed, so a top-five is gratifying. Now we have to go to work on our race set-up – this will be my first time driving this Gen 6 car in traffic and I am looking forward to it. Overall, we’re happy to be here and thankful that SKF gave us the opportunity to race this weekend.”
Penske Racing teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski qualified 22nd and 33rd respectively.
The STP 400 will air live Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
