Joey Logano Qualifies Top-10 at Richmond
April 26, 2013
RICHMOND, Virginia (April 26, 2013) – Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion qualified seventh for Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway. The lap surprised Logano, whose team worked on race runs for a majority of the two practice sessions on Friday afternoon.
Logano ran a lap of 20.808 seconds (129.758 mph) around the .75-mile oval. His Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski, ran a lap of 20.925 seconds (129.032 mph) behind the wheel of the No. 2 REDD’S Apple Ale Ford Fusion and will start 23rd.
“I’m really proud of the effort the guys on this Shell-Pennzoil team put in today,” said Logano. “We weren’t really sure what kind of a qualifying lap we were going to put down. We really focused on race runs during practice and got only one qualifying run in at the end of the first practice and we honestly weren’t very good. But the guys worked hard and gave me a great piece. That will give us a good starting position and pit position for Saturday night.”
The Toyota Owners 400 will air live at 7:30 p.m. ET on the FOX Network Saturday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
