Joey Logano Qualifies Fifth for Sprint All-Star Race

May 17, 2013

CONCORD, N.C. (May 17, 2013) – Joey Logano and the No. 22 Pennzoil Ford Fusion will start fifth in tomorrow night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Logano had a stellar lap in the special qualifying session, which saw teams make three laps, including a pit stop for four tires.  Logano completed his qualifying run in 112.991 seconds (143.347 mph).

Logano’s Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski, had a qualifying time of 114.989 seconds (140.883 mph) behind the wheel of the No. 2 Miller Lite Fan Mosaic Ford Fusion and will start 12th.

“That was a lot of fun,” said Logano of his qualifying run.  “Unfortunately, I made a mistake and slid through the pit stall and had to back up. Had I not done that, I think we would have gotten the pole for sure.  So that’s frustrating.  But overall, it was a great lap for the No. 22 Pennzoil Ford. We are starting up front, which is key here. I think we have a really good car for tomorrow night, so I’m excited about it.”

The Sprint All Star Race will air live at 8:00 p.m. ET on SPEED Saturday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
