Rain Cancels Qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway

October 19, 2013

TALLADEGA, AL. (October 19, 2013) – Qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, the Camping World RV Sales 500, was rained out, forcing NASCAR officials to set the field according to the rulebook.

Based off of Friday’s practice results, Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion will start 13th while Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion will start in the 18th position.

Sam Hornish, Jr., trying to make just his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start of the season, will miss the race following the rainout.

“Obviously we’d like to get a chance to qualify our Miller Lite Ford because I think all of the Penske Racing cars could have started near the front,” said defending Sprint Cup Series Champion Brad Keselowski.  “I really feel for Sam and the No. 12 team.  They would have easily made the show and would have been a legitimate contender tomorrow in the race.  You just need to focus on tomorrow now.”

The Camping World RV Sales 500 will air live at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN on Sunday afternoon. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
