Keselowski to Start on Front Row at Texas

April 6, 2014

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 5. 2014) – Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion qualified second for Sunday’s Duck Commander 500. The result marks the fifth time in seven races that Keselowski will start from the front row.

Keselowski’s lapped the 1.5 mile speedway in 27.633 seconds at a speed of 195.419 miles per hour. Keselowski looked poised to score his second pole of the season, but he was edged out of the top spot by Tony Stewart by a margin of 0.005 seconds with just seconds to go in the session. Keselowski has now qualified on the front row five times this season.

“Of course we’re disappointed.  We wanted to sit on the pole, but it wasn’t meant to be,” said Keselowski. “Tony obviously put down a great lap there at the end. I didn’t see that one coming. I thought we had it, but that’s why they do it this way. It’s really exciting and I think a lot of fun to watch and, quite honestly, it’s a lot of fun to participate in this new format of qualifying. We came up short, but we still have a lot to be proud of starting on the front row. We want to make that count, so hopefully we can pull that off. We did a lot of practice in race runs and not a lot of work in qualifying trim, so I guess that’s a good omen for starting up front as well. We’ll take it and move on.”

Teammate Joey Logano qualified in the 10th position and extended his streak of consecutive final round appearances. Logano is now the only driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to have advanced to the final round since the new elimination style qualifying system was introduced.

The Duck Commander 500 will air live Sunday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET on Fox and will also be broadcast on PRN and SiriusXM.
