THE RACE REVIEW

· Brad Keselowski started Saturday night’s All-Star Race from the 13th position driving the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion. The qualifying session consisted of single-car runs and included a pit stop with no pit lane speed limit.

· The 90-lap event was segmented into four 20-lap sessions and a final 10-lap dash to the finish. Over the opening segment, Keselowski reported that his Ford Fusion was handling a little tight through the center of the turns and then a little loose exiting the corners. He was scored 13th at the conclusion of the opening 20-lap segment.

· During the first pit stop the Miller Lite team elected to change two tires in effort to gain track position. The No. 2 Ford subsequently started the second 20-lap segment in second place.

· Keselowski sustained minor damage to the right side of his No. 2 machine as he tried to avoid a multi-car crash on lap 26. The contact resulted in an unscheduled pit stop to change tires, top off the fuel and assess the damage. The damage was minimal and Keselowski was able to rejoin the field. A second caution in the segment allowed the team to once again pit for fuel, tires and adjustments.

· The second segment ended with the 2012 Cup Champion scored 14th in the order, but when most of the field made pit stops, Keselowski was able to once again gain track position. He started the third segment in third place, though the No. 2 Miller Ford was lacking exit stability and straightaway speed.

· Keselowski started the final 10-lap dash in the 12th position and he went on to battle his way to a 10th-place finish.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

BRAD KESELOWSKI, NO. 2 MILLER LITE FORD

HOW DID YOU LIKE THE FORMAT FOR THE ALL-STAR RACE TONIGHT?

“It’s a great format – a series of great formats – so I like that. We learned a lot and we’ve got more work to do for next week.”

HOW DID THE MILLER LITE FORD PERFORM IN THE RACE?

“We were just off in all areas a little bit and we’ve got to keep working. When we were up towards the front we were okay, but I never felt like we had what we needed to win. We made some good adjustments and the strategy played into our hands a couple of times, but we just didn’t quite have what we needed tonight. We’ll work on it this week and come back strong for the 600.”
