DOVER, Del (May 30, 2014) – Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford team scored the pole for Sunday’s FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway during Friday’s qualifying session. The effort marks Keselowski’s second pole of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, his fifth-career pole and his eighth front row start this year.

Keselowski posted the sixth-fastest lap in the first session to advance to the final 10-minute round. The Miller Lite Ford was the first car to take a lap in the second session and Keselowski posted a track record lap of 164.444mph as he navigated the one-mile concrete oval in just 21.892 seconds.

“They gave me a great car here with the Miller Lite Ford Fusion,” said Keselowski.”I didn’t feel like I got it all the first run. I like this group qualifying because I got another shot at it. I think we have been pretty decent and there are a lot of great cars in race trim. The 18 looked good and the 4 has been strong and we have a lot to go. There is a lot left in the weekend. We have practice tomorrow and we just have to keep working. Having the first pit stall is definitely advantage and we are going to do our best to put it to good use come Sunday.”

Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford, qualified third for Sunday’s event.  Logano was third in the in the first of the two “knockout” qualifying sessions and then backed that up by turning in a lap third quick in the final session as well. Logano’s lap of 21.993 seconds was just over a tenth of a second off of the pole winning run from Keselowski.

“That’s a huge pick up for our Shell-Pennzoil team from where we were in practice.  If you looked at our practice times, I didn’t think there was any way we were going to make the top-12.  But me and my crew chief Todd Gordon talked it over and decided on some adjustments and they worked.  Our Ford Fusion was fast.  I think I know where I messed up on my lap, but third is a pretty good starting spot.  You want to start near the front here and you want to get a good pit stall and third will allow us to do both.”

The FedEx 400 will air Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX and it will be broadcast on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90.
