THE RACE RECAP

Recap:  Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion started third following a random draw on Friday afternoon.  As the 75-lap exhibition race got underway, Logano found himself running solidly in the top-10 before falling to the back when the car began to run hot due to debris on the grill.  Once cooled down, Logano was able to avoid a number of multi-car accidents throughout the event and raced anywhere between second and 16th.  All race long, Logano found himself shuffled out of the draft to only race himself race his way back to the front.  Late in the going, Logano was second before again getting shuffled to 12th.  Logano was able to race his way back toward the front over the final few laps, finishing sixth.

“We had a strong Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion for sure.  I don’t feel like anyone out there was heads and tails better than anyone else.  We were all pretty even.  It’s more about just making the right moves at the right time.  We made some good move and we made some bad ones.  Every time we got shuffled out, we raced our way back to the front.  There at the end, I was just pushing the 4 car toward the front and he got into the wall.  It was just hard racing.  But this is one of those races that, if you don’t win, doesn’t really mean anything.” - Joey Logano
