THE RACE REVIEW

Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford team started the Kobalt 500 from the inside of Row 6 in the 11th position based on the results of the Friday afternoon qualifying session. Keselowski reported his Ford Fusion was a little snug early in the race but felt the track would come to him. He ran as high as fifth place in the opening quarter of the race and then fell outside the top-10 as the track began to loosen up. The team worked to improve the car, and Keselowski broke into the top-five. A mid-race pit-stop issue resulted in a drive through penalty and the loss of a lap, but the team fought back and made it back on the lead lap by the last quarter of the race. Keselowski made a strong charge through the field, making it to seventh place as the checkered flag flew. The top-10 finish catapults Keselowski up to 16th in the driver point standings.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“It was an up and down day. We played the strategy there at the end hoping to catch a break – some kind of break and maybe steal a win. It just didn’t play out. I thought we were probably about a second or third place car at times. I don’t know if we ever had anything for the 4, but it was a good kind of never say die effort to recover from being a lap down in the middle parts of the race. That was the story today. Good job by the team to rally there and get what we were able to out of it.”
