THE RACE REVIEW

Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Alliance Truck Parts Ford Fusion team started the CampingWorld.com 500 from the outside of row three based on the results of the Friday afternoon’s qualifying session. Initially, Keselowski dropped a few positions as an opening lap wreck resulted in him having to check up to avoid contact. Once the race settled into a cadence, he made steady progress towards the front. At lap 37, he was scored second in the running order. He stayed in the top-five for two-thirds the 312-lap event. He led one time during the event for a total of 52 laps. A lap 229 pit stop saw the No. 2 fall back several positions after pitting from third place. Crew chief Paul Wolfe elected to take four tires while many competitors took two. He restarted the race in the 16th position. Over the final 83 laps, he worked his way back up to sixth to collect his third-consecutive top-10 finish. The strong finish advances Keselowski to ninth in the driver point standings.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“We had that one run where we got out to the lead and led like 50 laps which was second to (Kevin) Harvick and that is something here. We just didn’t quite have enough speed. I thought we were about a third- or fourth-place car and got shuffled to finish where we did. It was a great effort. We have to keep working to find more speed. There are a lot of Chevys up there and we need to get our Fords running a tiny bit better. I feel like it was kind of a decent, nonchalant day. We didn’t really have the speed we needed to run with the 4 and 41. Everybody was on a different strategy it seemed and it didn’t quite pan out for us to get the third or fourth we deserved, but we ran really well. We just have to find some more speed. That is the common theme to keep up with the 4 car and even the 41 this week.”
