THE RACE REVIEW

Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion used a strong car late in the race to grab a running up finish in the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon.  Keselowski started from the 12th position and, over the first 100 laps, ran around the top-10 despite pitting early and falling back to 30th. The Miller Lite Ford came to life over the last 400 laps of the 500-lap race. The team made small adjustments to keep up with changing track conditions and the No. 2 Ford had strong race-pace all afternoon. The team suffered a setback on a lap 358 pit stop when they were pinned in by the car in front of them. Keselowski had to back up to exit his pit and stalled while doing so. Not to be deterred, over the closing 137 laps, the team and driver rallied, charging through the field to finish second as the checkered flag flew. The team’s second-consecutive top-two, moves them up to fourth in the point standings.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“It was a good run.  Up and down day for us and we finished on a strong note, just not quite as strong as we wanted to.  Man, it was a fun race.  That’s the best we’ve ever been here at Martinsville, so I’m pumped about that, but a little disappointed I’m not taking home a clock.  That’s how it goes sometimes, but, all in all, a really solid day, a fun day and just one spot short.”
