            LOGANO POLE WINNING NOTES

  • · Joey Logano's pole on Friday afternoon marked his third of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season, and his second of the year at Michigan International Speedway.
  • · Logano turned the eighth fastest time in both the first and second round of qualifying prior to running the pole lap in the final round.
  • · The pole is Logano's third at the Michigan International Speedway. His first pole was the in August of 2013, the same event Logano claimed his first win for Team Penske.
  • · In his two previous poles at Michigan International Speedway, Logano went on to win the race. If Logano can win for a third time on Sunday, he will join NASCAR Hall of Famers Bill Elliott and David Pearson as the only drivers to win from the pole three times at Michigan International Speedway.
  • · The pole award is also the 17th of Logano's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career.
  • · Logano's pole was the sixth for team owner Roger Penske at the Michigan International Speedway, a track he owned from 1972 until 1999 when it was purchased by International Speedway Corporation.
  • · Logano's Sprint Cup Series pole at Michigan International Speedway was the 503rd pole for Team Penske, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season.
