Helio Castroneves, who was fastest in the second practice of the day, turned a lap of 1:36.090 seconds behind the wheel of the No. 7 late in the 15-min qualifying session and held the top spot as the checkers flew. Unfortunately, the No. 10 Cadillac finished its final lap and knocked Castroneves and the No. 7 team out of the top spot by .007 seconds, relegating the No. 7 to the outside front row for Saturday's legendary 24-hour race. Dane Cameron qualified the No. 6 car in the 10th position after turning a lap of 1:36.931 seconds. There is one additional WeatherTech practice this evening and two more on Friday before Saturday's event.
