Team Notes: Team Penske began Saturday with a sweep of the top-three positions in the late-morning practice session prior to qualifying for Sunday’s Music City Grand Prix. Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 DEX Imaging Chevrolet team led the way with the fastest time of the session. After qualifying was delayed by lighting and thunderstorms in the Nashville area, McLaughlin built on his success from earlier in the day. The former Australian Supercars champion earned his second career NTT INDYCAR SERIES P1 Award and his 61st all-time pole with Team Penske to establish a new team record (previously held by Helio Castroneves). Josef Newgarden qualified sixth in his hometown driving the No. 2 PPG Chevy while Will Power earned an eighth-place starting position after he briefly went off course in the No. 12 Verizon 5G Chevrolet in second-round qualifying. The incident caused a stoppage in the session, which resulted in Power losing his fastest lap and the penalty prevented him from advancing to the Firestone Fast Six final qualifying round.
