Team Notes: Friday was a full day of on-track activity at World Wide Technology Raceway in preparations for Saturday night's Bommarito Automotive Group 500, the final oval race of the 2022 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. Two practice sessions were sandwiched around the single-car qualifying runs at the 1.25-mile oval just across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis. Team Penske came out strong in the opening practice session, occupying the top three positions on the scoring pylon halfway through the practice. Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon 5G Chevy team ended with the fastest lap in the first practice at 180.539 mph. As the series points leader, Power would be the last car to make a qualifying lap. He did not miss it, winning the 67th pole position of his career to tie Mario Andretti for the most all-time. All three Team Penske drivers will start in the top five, with Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin third and fourth, respectively. An evening practice session ended the day, giving the teams a glimpse of what race conditions could be tomorrow for the 260-lap event.
